My name is Domenico Stefani and I am an applied Machine Learning researcher, working in music technology at IK Multimedia Production.

I previously served as an assistant professor (RTD-A) at the University of Trento, Italy. I received my PhD in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Trento, with a thesis on real-time Music Information Retrieval on Embedded Computers.

Through my research and applied work, I focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence for music technology, with applications in audio processing, music information retrieval, and intelligent musical systems. My work spans embedded AI for resource-constrained devices, real-time sound analysis, and modern audio ML applications such as amplifier and effect modeling and neural audio processing.

I strongly believe in artist-supporting technology, including machine learning tools, as opposed to AI systems theat replace artists' creativity :)

As of early 2025, I make audio plugins as Onyx DSP.
