My name is Domenico Stefani and I am a PhD student at the Creative, Intelligent & Multisensory Interactions Laboratory (CIMIL) at the University of Trento, Italy. I also received my master's degree in computer science from the University of Trento, with a thesis on the development of a timbre classifier for a smart guitar.

My research interests are in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Music and, in particular, real-time Music Information Retrieval (rtMIR). Moreover, I'm interested in bringing these complex learning algorithms to smart self-contained musical instrument, which requires developing for resource-constrained embedded computers. I am currently working on the development of a system that can listen to the audio signal from a guitar pickup, and recognize in real-time specific properties about the notes played by the musician. (e.g. the expressive techniques used or the mood of the music).

Feel free to browse the website with the links on the menu. You'll find more info on my PhD Research Project, my publications related to the topic, my resume and a lot of cool stuff such as projects, people, free software, music and other stuff that I think you should check out.
